Divided

It's still me right?
Plastic dump truck, Dismantled toys
Singing carols of good girls and boys

Angry and colorful
Passionately wary,
A song in my head and a young boy to carry

Did I ever know myself
with thoughts of suicide and romance
My dreams grew into nightmares, did I ever stand a chance?

Now here we are today dictated by social media and pawns to our chosen political parties.

A jury pre-determined
Dead before they leave
free the white man with the gun up his sleeve

One year we win, in four we'll lose
let them riot, they were born to lose
Divided
Disarming
Her words were alarming
We grew up as one and she was so charming

And neither know love but we have our convictions
They're righteous and withered
and spawns of affliction

God, what's the motherfucking point?
Yes, I hate you, your fucking Trump signs and Blue Lives Matter fatuity
Your mullet and guns and tenuity

But we're broken for what, for hatred? For displeasure? For change that hasn't happened, that may never happen. Will we ever come together again or will the world simply implode as our roots spread the fires of our own choreographed anger?
